The NCAA has ruled incoming Texas A&M freshmen J.J. Caldwell ineligible for the upcoming season.

Caldwell was ruled a partial qualifier, meaning that he will be allowed to remain at Texas A&M on scholarship but he will have to take a redshirt year.

Caldwell was a four-star point guard and a tremendously flashy passer that was expected to compete for the starting point guard spot for the Aggies, who are already looking to replace Alex Caruso and Danuel House in their back court.

Texas A&M is still awaiting word on the status of another incoming freshman, Deshawn Corprew, whom a source said is still awaiting a ruling from the NCAA.
