Mark Gottfried’s coaching staff at N.C. State will look vastly different next season than it did this season.

The school has already announced that former Oklahoma State assistant coach Butch Pierre has been hired to replace Rob Moxley, and now it appears that Gottfried will likely be hiring former Kansas assistant and current FGCU head coach Joe Dooley.

Dooley, according to a source, took a paycut when he took the FGCU job, where he makes a base salary of $235,000, and would stand to get a raise if he were to move to N.C. State. Dooley has won 21 games in three straight seasons with the Eagles, won a Atlantic Sun regular season title and reached the NCAA tournament this past season and has not signed a contract extension with the school.

According to another source, Dooley would be replacing assistant coach Bobby Lutz on the N.C. State bench. The Wolfpack announced on Tuesday evening that Lutz has been reassigned within the athletic department, taking over a role as “Special Assistant to the Deputy Athletic Director for External Operations.
