VCU restructures, extends contract of men’s hoops coach Wade

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) VCU has restructured and extended the contract of men’s basketball coach Will Wade.

The school made the announcement Tuesday. Athletic director Ed McLaughlin said in a release that Wade’s contract was extended through the 2024 season and enhanced to boost salaries within the program and provide for other unspecified upgrades. Details on the upgrades were not immediately available.

Wade just completed his first season at VCU. The Rams finished 25-11 and in a three-way tie for the Atlantic 10 Conference title. They beat Oregon State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and then lost 85-81 to Oklahoma in the second round. The Sooners have advanced to the Final Four.
