VIDEO: Theo Pinson interrupts North Carolina press conference

UNC guard Theo Pinson interrupts UNC press conference following win over Indiana, thinking he had a seat for media availability.

Press conferences at the NCAA tournament usually become standard fare by this point in the event, with the star players joining their head coach on the podium to answer questions while the rest of the team is in the locker room. These conferences can lead to some interesting moments, most notably Baylor’s Taurean Prince educating a reporter on how Yale grabbed more rebounds than the Bears in their first round loss to the Bulldogs last week.

Saturday afternoon North Carolina guard Theo Pinson had some fun during the Tar Heels’ press conference ahead of Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup with Notre Dame. Since Pinson isn’t in the starting lineup he wasn’t invited onto the poduim, which led to some “confusion.” You can watch it all unfold in the video above.

“It’s like I told you, I never have to congratulate him, he congratulates himself,” North Carolina head coach Roy Williams joked after the exchange. “I’ve been coaching 28 years, I’ve never had one player walk up in the middle of the damn press conference.”
