Todd Simon will be the next head coach at Southern Utah, a source told NBCSports.com.
Simon spent the second half of this season as the interim head coach at UNLV, replacing Dave Rice. He won the first three games of his tenure, the Rebels went just 9-8 under his watch. Simon joined the UNLV program in 2013 as an assistant coach. He had previously been the head coach at Findlay Prep, a prep school in Las Vegas.
UNLV opted not to remove his interim tag. They’re currently pursuing Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin.
Simon will replace Nick Robinson at Southern Utah. Robinson was 29-90 in his four seasons there. He went 5-24 last season and finished tied for last place in the Big Sky.
