VIDEO: Purdue’s A.J. Hammons grabs rebound while holding shoe

Wednesday night No. 21 Purdue picked up a 68-64 win at Minnesota, with Vince Edwards putting forth one of his best efforts of the season with 24 points and eight rebounds. Also key was senior center A.J. Hammons, who added 16 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

One of Hammons’ eight boards came in bizarre fashion, as he corralled the ball while holding his shoe. Hammons’ right shoe came off on the offensive end of the floor, and instead of leaving it where it was the 7-footer picked up the shoe and made his way back on defense. Some would choose to throw the shoe off the court, waiting for a stoppage in play to pick it up, while others may not know what to do.

Hammons simply played out the defensive possession, eventually grabbing a rebound with his left hand while holding the sneaker in his right.
