Kentucky picked up another top-10 prospect on Tuesday morning as five-star Class of 2016 big man Edrice “Bam” Adebayo pledged to the Wildcats during a televised announcement. The 6-foot-9 Adebayo is currently regarded as the No. 7 overall prospect in the loaded Class of 2016 and he gives head coach John Calipari another ridiculous class, with four, five-star commitments among the group.

A powerful run-and-jump athlete who showed an improved face-up game this summer, Adebayo gives Kentucky another talented big man who can immediately contribute in their rotation. Adebayo’s commitment also marks another huge recruiting win for the Wildcats, as they beat out N.C. State and Auburn for his services.

This loss stings especially hard for the Wolfpack, since Adebayo is good friends and grassroots teammates with N.C. State commitment Dennis Smith.

Also a productive rebounder, Adebayo averaged 14.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game on the grassroots circuit this spring and summer playing for Team Loaded North Carolina. The big man had a tremendous rapport running pick-and-rolls with Smith in grassroots ball and Kentucky fans have to hope that Fox and Adebayo can also form a lethal combination on similar plays.

With the commitment of Adebayo, this is one of Calipari’s most talented classes on paper yet. With three very good front-court players who have differing skills and one of the nation’s best guards in Fox, Kentucky will be in contention for the No. 1 class in the country once again.
