Maryland took a hit to its rotation this weekend as sophomore guard Dion Wiley will miss time with a torn meniscus in his right knee, the school announced.

The 6-foot-4 Wiley was a key member of the Terps’ bench last season, as he averaged 13.5 minutes per contest while scoring 4.1 points and collecting 1.5 rebounds a game. There is no timetable for Wiley’s return, but most recoveries from a torn meniscus hover around six weeks.

Wiley didn’t suit up in Maryland’s exhibition opener on Friday night after his knee began to swell after practice on Thursday.

Although Maryland will miss Wiley’s 38 percent 3-point shooting off the bench, they have more depth this season to help sustain. Senior guard Rasheed Sulaimon transferred in from Duke and the team also retains sophomore Jared Nickens. Reserve guard Jaylen Brantley also joined Maryland for this season and that could mean Melo Trimble and Brantley could form some two-point guard lineups in Wiley’s absence as well.
