Rhode Island gets three-star 2016 guard

Rhode Island continued its hot run on the recruiting trail by landing another commitment on Sunday. Three-star Class of 2016 guard Jeff Dowtin pledged to the Rams and he represents the team’s fourth commitment in the class in the last 15 days.

The 6-foot-3 Dowtin is a talented scoring guard who was very productive shooting from the perimeter at the Under Armour All-America Camp back in July. Playing with the D.C. Blue Devils in the Under Armour Association, Dowtin averaged 8.2 points per game and was a nice complimentary piece in the backcourt to five-star guard Markelle Fultz.

Dowtin can play a bit of both guard spots and should be a nice addition to a Rhode Island class that is loaded with big men. Currently in the fold for the Rams in the Class of 2016 are three-star centers Mike Layssard and Michael Tertsea along with three-star power forward Cyril Langevine.

The four-man group certainly is a nice group to build on for the future and head coach Dan Hurley continues to bring in talented players.
