UCLA has landed a commitment from another elite Southern California prospect, as Class of 2017 recruit Jaylen Hands has committed to play for the Bruins.

“Thank you to those who recruited me,” Hands wrote on twitter. “Me and my family chose to further my education and career at UCLA.”

Hands is a top 25 prospect in the Class of 2017, according to Rivals. A 6-foot-1 point guard who will play his high school ball for Balboa City Prep, the same program that elite prospect Deandre Ayton plays for, Hands is the third member of the 2017 recruiting class that Steve Alford has landed, joining four-star power forward Jalen hill and three-star shooting guard LiAngelo Ball. Ball is the younger brother of Lonzo, a five-star point guard in the Class of 2016 that is committed to UCLA, and the older brother of LaMelo Ball, a Class of 2019 guard committed to the Bruins.

Hands played his AAU ball for the Compton Magic, a program with whom UCLA has very close ties. Assistant coach David Grace was once a coach in the Magic program.
