Derrick Jones won’t make his college debut until November. But in the lead up to his freshman season, the UNLV forward has made it clear: he’ll be one of the best dunkers in the nation this season.
The latest video evidence occurred earlier this week, when Jones took off from just in front of the foul line for two gravity-defying dunks. The windmill slam and between-the-legs dunk join a growing list of videos from this spring and summer.
In May, Jones won the dunk contest at the BallisLife All-America Game. Later that month, he won another dunk contest by jumping over four people. There’s also been multiple mixtapes -- from BallisLife, HoopMixtape and CourtsideFilms -- that dropped in June, highlighting his senior year.
The 6-foot-6 Jones was rated as the No. 49 overall recruit in the Class of 2015 by Rivals.
