Butler and a Class of 2017 prospect parted ways on Monday as small forward David Caraher opened up his recruitment. The 6-foot-6 native of North Carolina announced his decision on Twitter.

Caraher pledged to the Bulldogs back in February and was the team’s only commitment in the rising junior class. He visited the school back in late December before head coach Chris Holtmann went to see him play in January.

But things have clearly not been as good between player and program the last few months and there were rumors that this would happen. Caraher still has plenty of time to figure out his college situation and he has two more seasons left of high school basketball. He’ll play the rest of this July with Team Loaded VA on the grassroots circuit.
