With Shaq Goodwin and Austin Nichols returning and brothers K.J. and Dedric Lawson due to enroll this summer, Memphis had some solid front court options lined up for the 2015-16 season. On Wednesday it was reported by the Memphis Commercial-Appeal that head coach Josh Pastner has added another piece in the form of a big man who originally committed as a member of the Class of 2016.

According to the report 6-foot-11 center Nick Marshall has decided to move back into the Class of 2015, and he’ll enroll at the American Athletic Conference school next month. Marshall committed to Memphis last August.

The four-star big man gives Memphis a shot-blocker who can help them defensively, although it remains to be seen just how much playing time he can earn as a freshman due to the presence of the four players named above. Goodwin is Memphis’ most experienced front court player, while Nichols is coming off of a season in which he earned first team all-conference honors.

As for the Lawsons, they’re both highly-regarded recruits who are expected to contribute immediately. Memphis, which also returns senior wings Trahson Burrell and Chris Hawkins in its front court, lost reserves Nick King (transfer) and Calvin Godfrey from last season’s front court rotation.
