Minnesota finalized its recruiting efforts this offseason with the addition of Texas A&M transfer Davonte Fitzgerald, the school announced on Monday. The 6-foot-7 native of Atlanta will have to sit out the 2015-16 season before he has two more seasons of eligibility left.

“We are excited about Davonte being a Gopher,” Pitino said. “He has two years of experience playing at an extremely high level. A year off will serve him well as he gets healthy. He has great size and ability.”

Fitzgerald only saw 9.6 minutes per game as a sophomore and averaged 3.5 points and 1.6 rebounds with the Aggies. He was more successful his freshman season, as he played a little bit over 15 minutes per game and averaged 7.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game during that stretch.

The Golden Gophers bring in five freshman in their 2015 class and also have Illinois State transfer Reggie Lynch coming in this offseason.
