One of the top available graduate students has decided where he’ll complete his college career, as Tyler Harris announced Friday that he’ll be an Auburn Tiger next season shortly after it was reported by CBS Sports.
Auburn will be Harris’ third school, as he played one season at NC State before transferring to Providence where he played two years for Ed Cooley. In two seasons at Providence Harris averaged 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest, shooting 42.7 percent from the field. Harris played nearly 27 minutes per game last season, averaging 9.9 points and 4.0 rebounds while starting 12 of the 34 games he played in.
The 6-foot-9 Harris can play away from the basket, which can help an Auburn front court led by rising senior power forward Cinmeon Bowers. Counting Harris, second-year head coach is adding a total of seven players to the program and former Marshall point guard Kareem Canty is eligible after sitting out the 2014-15 season per NCAA transfer rules.
With Auburn losing perimeter scorers K.T. Harrell and Antoine Mason, there should be some perimeter touches available for the incoming guards and a versatile forward like Harris in 2015-16.
