La Salle picked up a transfer guard in Memphis freshman Pookie Powell, he announced on Twitter. The 6-foot-1 Powell will have to sit out the 2015-16 season, but he’ll have three years of eligibility remaining for the Explorers after that.

Powell started 11 games as a freshman and averaged 4.3 points, 2.7 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game for the Tigers. He shot 37 percent from the field and 28 percent from 3-point range. Coming out of high school, Powell was a four-star recruit and the No. 95 overall prospect in the country, according to Rivals. La Salle might have found an impact guard who has plenty of time to grow within the program these next few years.
