Old Dominion head coach Jeff Jones has been busy in the transfer “market,” as he’s managed to reel in commitments from guard B.J. Stith (Virginia) and Austin Colbert (Illinois). Two days after landing Colbert it was reported that ODU received a commitment from a third transfer in the form of former George Mason center Trey Porter.

The 6-foot-10 Porter played just one season at George Mason, starting seven of the 30 games he played in and averaging 14.1 minutes per contest. Playing behind one of the Atlantic 10’s best big men in Shevon Thompson, Porter averaged 3.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game last season.

Porter, like Stith and Colbert, will have to sit out the 2015-16 season per NCAA transfer rules and he’ll have three seasons of eligibility remaining. ODU, which won 27 games and reached the semifinals of the Postseason NIT, will rely upon leading rebounder Denzell Taylor (6.0 rpg) and junior college transfer Payton Pervier in the post in 2015-16.

Also factoring into the front court rotation are East Carolina transfer Brandan Stith and freshman Zoran Talley, with both players having redshirted last season.
