On his radio show on Monday night, North Carolina head coach Roy Williams said that he did not think that the Tar Heels would have Kennedy Meeks available for their Thursday night game against Wisconsin in the Sweet 16.

“They’re not completely ruling him out and they’re not saying he can play,” Williams said. “Let me say it that way. I don’t think we’ll have him, but we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Meeks was injured near the end of UNC’s win over Arkansas in the Round of 32. An Arkansas defender, while trying to draw a charge on a UNC player, fell into the side of Meeks’ left knee. He was diagnosed with a sprained knee.

Meeks is averaging 11.6 points and 7.4 boards this season as a starter for the Tar Heels. He did not practice on Monday, according to Williams, and “if he doesn’t practice Wednesday,” Williams said, “it’ll be hard to play on Thursday.”
