IMPORTANT OUTCOMES

1. Kansas State 70, No. 8 Kansas 63

The Wildcats came together and pulled off its biggest win of the season. Nigel Johnson had 20 points off of the bench for Kansas State, who shot 47 percent from the field in the win. Kansas had 24 points and nine rebounds from Perry Ellis, but not much else outside of Kelly Oubre. Frank Mason was 1-for-8 and Wayne Selden had seven points. This Big 12 race will be fun to see.

2. St. John’s 58, Xavier 57

A big one for the bubble in the Big East as the Red Storm held off Xavier in the Garden. In Dave Ommen’s latest Bracketology update for College Basketball Talk on Monday, St. John’s held a No. 10 seed while the Musketeers were at a No. 8. But Sir’Dominic Pointer had a tremendous all-around effort with 19 points, nine rebounds, six blocks, four steals, three assists and D’Angelo Harrison added 20 points for the win. St. John’s is also now a half-game ahead of Xavier for fifth in the Big East standings.

3. No. 17 Louisville 52, Georgia Tech 51

Playing its first game without dismissed senior guard Chris Jones, the Cardinals struggled on the offensive end for much of the night before figuring things out in the final minutes of a close ACC road win. Terry Rozier took over down the stretch and finished with 22 points while shooting 8-for-19 from the field. With their last two games coming against Notre Dame and Virginia, this was a nice win for Louisville before that difficult stretch.

STARRED

1. Norfolk State’s Jeffrey Short

The guard scored 17 of his team-high 25 points in the second half to help give the Spartans a comeback win in the MEAC over Delaware State.

2. Northwestern State’s Zeek Woodley and Jalan West

The Demons won easily in the Southland as their two star players had a big impact. Woodley finished with 25 points and became the school’s first sophomore to reach 1,000 career points. West became Northwestern State’s career assists leaders and finished with 19 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals.

STRUGGLED

1. Kansas’ Frank Mason

While the sophomore point guard deserves a lot of credit for his play this season, this was simply not his night. Mason was 1-for-8 from the field and only finished with five points in the Jayhawks loss to Kansas State.

2. Xavier’s Myles Davis

Playing 37 minutes in the Musketeers’ loss to St. John’s, the guard was 2-for-11 from the field for five points. Davis is usually reliable from distance but was only 1-for-5 from 3-point range on Monday night.
