Scorpion sting stalls Oregon State’s flight out of LAX

Saturday night saw some odd travel circumstances in college basketball. Mississippi State dealt with engine failure on its flight home Saturday night and also going through travel difficulties of their own was Oregon State.

After losing at USC, 68-55, the Beavers had their flight at LAX return to the gate after a woman on the flight was stung by a scorpion. The University of Portland’s women’s basketball team was also on the Alaska Airlines flight. According to Karly Imus at The Oregonian, the flight landed at PDX at about 11 p.m. after a 30-minute delay in Los Angeles.

On the flight, passengers were told the scorpion was on a carry-on of a passenger who had been to Mexico.
