Following an extended suspension, sophomore forward Kuran Iverson has elected to transfer out of Memphis.
Multiple media outlets reported the news, although, this wasn’t much of a surprise. As Grant Milner of 247Sports put it, the writing was on the wall.
On Jan. 6, Iverson was suspended for two games for a violation of team rules. He compounded the punishment by retweeting criticism of Memphis head coach Josh Pastner. Up until Wednesday, Iverson remained suspended with Pastner offering no answer for if or when he would return to the team.
Iverson was averaging 4.6 points and 1.9 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game for the Tigers.
The 6-foot-8 Connecticut native was ranked as the No. 28 overall recruit in the Class of 2013, according to Rivals. He is the second member of that recruiting class to transfer with Dominic Woodson being the first.
Memphis continues its season on Saturday at home against Central Florida.
