Anthony Drmic’s season is over.

The Boise State star will undergo surgery on his ankle to repair an injury that has bothered him since February of last season, according to the Idaho Statesmen.

Drmic has dealt with a myriad of nagging injuries over the course of the last season and a half. He had a stress fracture in his right foot in addition to the injury to his left ankle, and earlier this season he injured his back after falling in a game in November.

“He told me ‘I just want to play healthy, I want to play 100 percent,’” head coach Leon Rice told the paper. “He’ll probably never be that way with how hard he plays, but he’s played hurt a lot. I respect that, but I just don’t want to have him do that again.”

Drmic has played seven games this season, meaning that he is eligible for a medical redshirt, which would allow him a do-over for his senior season in 2015-2016. Drmic has a chance to become Boise State’s leading scorer with a full season of games.
