Injury depleted New Mexico loses another player

New Mexico will likely have just eight scholarship players dress on Wednesday night as they take on Central Arkansas at The Pit, with Sam Logwood being the latest casualty.

Logwood sprained his shoulder in Saturday’s win over Louisiana-Monroe and is expected to miss at least three games before Mountain West play begins.

Logwood will join Cullen Neal, who suffered an ankle injury in November that could keep him out the rest of the season, and Arthur Edwards, who dislocated and fractured a finger, out of the lineup.

The good news is that Jordan Goodman is expected to finally be healthy for the Lobos, but that doesn’t help them much with numbers, particularly in practice. According to beat writer Geoff Grammar, head coach Craig Neal has been jumping in drills because they are so shorthanded right now.

“I thought we were going to have pretty good depth in the backcourt, but now it’s kind of dwindling,” said Neal. “I even checked if I could have a manager practice today, which I can’t. I had to check the rules with compliance. I was going to put one of our managers in to play today so we had enough.”
