Jamie Dixon’s Pittsburgh program will begin the 2014-15 season with two junior college big men who are expected to factor into their front court rotation in Joseph Uchebo and Tyrone Haughton. Sunday evening Dixon landed a verbal commitment from another junior college player, this one being a 7-footer who is ranked among the best junior college prospects in the Class of 2015.
Rozelle Nix, a Cincinnati native who’s a sophomore at Pensacola State College in Florida, announced via Twitter that he’ll be a Pitt Panther next year. Nix was also considering Loyola Marymount and South Carolina, with his decision to join the ACC program coming on the heels of his official visit to Pittsburgh this weekend.

Of the nine players who are listed as either a forward (seven) or center (two) on the Pittsburgh roster just two, Derrick Randall and Aron Phillips-Nwankwo, are seniors with Randall averaging 8.6 minutes per contest and Nwankwo-Phillips appearing in just nine games in 2013-14. Uchebo, Haughton, Michael Young and Sheldon Jeter are among the front court players who will have eligibility remaining for Pittsburgh when Nix arrives on campus in 2015.
Nix is Pittsburgh’s second commitment in the 2015 class, with four-star guard Damon Wilson having made his pledge last November.
