Nebraska head coach Tim Miles has landed his first commitment in the Class of 2015, with it being reported Thursday evening by the Lincoln Journal-Star that 6-foot-8 power forward Michael Jacobson has decided to become a Cornhusker. The news was confirmed by multiple outlets Friday morning.
As a junior at Waukee High School in Waukee, Iowa, Jacobson posted averages of 17.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Jacobson played his grassroots basketball for the Mokan Elite program this summer, averaging 7.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest in Nike EYBL play. Waukee head coach Justin Ohl said the following when discussing his player’s decision with the Des Moines Register:
Jacobson will join a program that loses graduate transfer Moses Ayegba at the end of this season, but the Cornhuskers will have other options in the paint in 2015-16. Walter Pitchford and Jacob Hammond will both have eligibility remaining, and Leslee Smith is expected to be back as well. Smith, a 6-foot-8 senior, will miss the entire 2014-15 season after tearing the ACL in his left knee.
