Purdue landed a sniper on Monday afternoon as 6-foot-4 shooting guard Ryan Cline committed to the Boilermakers, according to his Twitter.

Cline is a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com and the son of former Ohio State two-time captain Mike Cline, who played for the Buckeyes from 1976 to 1979.

Ryan Cline shot the ball well in the adidas Gauntlet with Indiana Elite this spring as he played in 11 games and shot 41 percent from the three-point line and 92 percent from the free-throw line while averaging 11.1 points per game.

Cline struggled to 36 percent overall shooting from the field but his perimeter game is his major strength. Once Cline adds strength it should help his game in the Big Ten.

The addition of a shooter like Cline also helps Matt Painter’s Boilermakers, as the team shot 32 percent from three-point range last season.
