After posting averages of 3.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game as a freshman, Charlotte 6-foot-7 forward Marcus Bryan has decided to transfer according to a school release. Bryan played in 31 games last season, playing an average of 12.4 minutes per contest.

“I would like to thank Coach Major, the staff, and my teammates for their support during my time at Charlotte,” Bryan said in the release. “However, I feel it is in my best interest to head in a different direction at this time.”

Bryan reached the ten-point mark in two of Charlotte’s final four games of the season, including the 49ers’ win over UAB in the first round of the Conference USA tournament. In that game Bryan played 23 minutes, tallying seven rebounds and three assists to go along with his ten points.

Bryan’s departure means that Charlotte loses a rotation player in its front court, but head coach Alan Major won’t lack for options in 2014-15. Starters Willie Clayton and Mike Thorne Jr. return, and Clemson transfer Bernard Sullivan will be eligible after sitting out the 2013-14 campaign.
