Gonzaga’s Gerard Coleman to transfer for senior year

Gerard Coleman is on the move again.

The former Providence guard will leave Gonzaga after playing for the Zags for one season, a source told Scott Phillips of NBCSports.com. The news was first reported by Jim Meehan of the Spokesman-Review.

Coleman averaged 13.2 points as a sophomore with the Friars, but after sitting out the 2012-2013 season as a redshirt, he could never find a way into the Gonzaga rotation as a junior. He averaged just 11.4 minutes, and while he showed flashes of being the kind of scorer that he was back east, a high-volume slasher just didn’t fit in with what Mark Few was trying to do with this group.

Coleman will be eligible to play immediately wherever he ends up.

What will be interesting to see is if this move happens to coincide with USC transfer Byron Wesley committing to play for the Zags. Wesley visited the Gonzaga campus this past weekend, and the Zags didn’t have a scholarship available for the 2014-2015 season until now.

It’s Tuesday, which means that it is once again time for the NBC Sports Player of the Year Power Rankings.

And you’ll be shocked to find out that Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield is still No. 1 in those rankings. By a pretty wide margin.

This is pretty nice from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who has made a habit out of getting themselves on the highlight reel.

Here’s another angle of the dunk:
