Illinois State assistant Dana Ford has been named the next head coach at Tennessee State, the school announced on Monday afternoon.
Ford played his college ball for the Redbirds, having worked on Gregg Marshall’s staff at both Winthrop and Wichita State before becoming an assistant for his alma mater. Ford was also an assistant coach at Tennessee State from 2009-2011 and helped recruit Robert Covington, who has seen some time in the NBA.
Tennessee State fired Travis Williams last month after just two seasons. He went just 5-25 in the regular season and had just four OVC wins.
