After stops at Harvard and St. John’s, Max Hooper has found a new home, committing to Oakland according to a report from John Rothstein of CBS Sports.
St. John’s announced Hooper’s intention to transfer on March 26. He sat out the 2012-2013 year, and averaged only saw nine minutes of action a night, averaging 3.2 points per game for the Red Storm this past season.
Hooper is on pace to graduate this spring, giving him immediate eligibility next season for the Golden Grizzlies.
Oakland leading scorer and NCAA 3-point king Travis Bader has completed his collegiate career. Naturally, Hooper will be viewed as Bader’s successor. Hooper was regarded as a talented perimeter shooting when he transferred into St. John’s. That shooting prowess was on display in his final game in a Red Storm uniform, connecting on 6-of-12 3-pointers in an opening round loss to Robert Morris in the NIT. He shot 40 percent in limited minutes.
Oakland was 13-20 (7-9 Horizon League) this past season, finishing sixth in the conference standings.
