After averaging 8.3 points and 6.0 assists per game in two seasons at Longwood, 6-foot-1 point guard Lucas Woodhouse made the decision a couple weeks ago to transfer. And on Sunday, it was announced by his high school coach that the New York native will complete his college career at Stony Brook.

As a sophomore Woodhouse averaged 11.5 points and 6.7 assists per game, leading the Big South in the latter category while also ranking fourth in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio. Stony Brook loses Anthony Jackson from this season’s team but return leading assist man Carson Puriefoy in 2014-15.

Puriefoy averaged 2.8 assists per game for the Seawolves, who finished second in the America East standings behind Vermont and lost to Albany in the conference tournament final.

Woodhouse will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season per NCAA transfer rules. Next season will provide him with the opportunity to learn Steve Pikiell’s offensive system while competing against the likes of Puriefoy and incoming freshman Deshaun Thrower in practice.
