Maryland-Eastern Shore will not retain head coach Frankie Allen

Two days after losing to Norfolk State in the first round of the MEAC tournament, Maryland-Eastern Shore has announced that head coach Frankie Allen will not return in 2014-15. Allen was the head coach at UMES for six season, finishing his tenure with a record of 42-139.

The highest UMES finished in the MEAC was a tie for fifth place in 2009-10, as they posted an 8-8 record in conference play. The Hawks won a total of 11 games that season , but in the four season since UMES has won a total of 24 games.

“We thank Coach Allen for the time he dedicated to UMES,” UMES AD Keith Davidson said in the release. “We appreciate his service and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

UMES finished the 2013-14 season with an overall record of 6-24, going just 4-13 in MEAC play. Allen has 24 years of head coaching experience, including stops at Howard (2000-05), Tennessee State (1991-2000) and Virginia Tech (1987-91).
