Before Kentucky and head coach John Calipari took the floor at the Barclays Center on Sunday to defeat Providence, Coach Cal got some phone time in with the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton.
Clinton is a noted college basketball fan and has been seen everywhere from watching his home state Arkansas Razorbacks make NCAA Tournament runs during his presidency to crashing Louisville’s locker room celebration after the Big East Tournament championship last season.
Calipari broke down his conversation with Clinton in a series of tweets:
I got a great call at 3 o’clock on game day yesterday from @billclinton. We spoke for about 20 minutes.

He knows our team, he knows our ups and downs, and he knows where we’ve got to go. He really tried hard to make our game, which I appreciate

. @billclinton also told me he wants to come to a game in Lexington. I hope he does so he can talk to my young team.

It’s always good hearing @billclinton's voice. I appreciate him reaching out to say hello.
