North Carolina will be without P.J. Hairston, Leslie McDonald on Friday

North Carolina won’t be back to full strength on Friday when Holy Cross comes to town, as both P.J. Hairston and Leslie McDonald will miss their season straight game.

“It’s what it is,” head coach Roy Williams said. “Everyone is trying to do their best and we’re trying to move along. We just do the best we can.”

UNC is currently working with the NCAA to resolve an ongoing eligibility issue that involves the rental cars that Hairston was caught driving this summer.

“They’ve been wonderful in practice,” Williams said. “They’re pushing the other guys. They’ve been quality teammates.” Wiliams also called Hairston the most impressive player in practice “by far”.

In the opener, an 84-61 win over Oakland, Williams started Nate Britt at the point and J.P. Tokoto at the three.
