Fred Hoiberg is a better golfer than you

A lot of people spend a lot of money and a lot of time playing a lot of golf, but there aren’t many folks out there that can claim that they’ve hit a double eagle or have a hole-in-one on their resume.

There are fewer that have done both with notching a PGA Tour card, which makes what Iowa State Fred Hoiberg did Monday all the more impressive.

Playing in the Coaches vs. Cancer event at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Hoiberg aced the 135-yard 17th hole using a pitching wedge. That came two months after Hoiberg carded a double-eagle on a 555-yard hole on a course in Mexico.

“I always hit the ball pretty pathetically to be honest with you,” Hoiberg told WHO-TV. “A 130-yard hole downhill I’d love to be able to tell you that I pured a pitching wedge and had a bit of backspin and into the hole but I bladed it a little bit, set a little side spin on it and hit the flag and dropped.”

It gets better.

Hoiberg may have aced the 17th hole, but it wasn’t enough for him to beat his son that day:

Coach may make hole in ones and dbl eagles but he lost to his son Jack tonight. Whose the mayor??
