South Alabama head coach Matthew Graves looked to be bringing a Butler-brand of basketball down south. Two members of his coaching staff, Darnell Archey and Ronald Nored, were part of the Butler basketball program under Brad Stevens, and Graves had also begun recruiting in Butler’s backyard of Indianapolis after signing Austin Karazsia as his first commit.

Unfortunately for Graves, his former boss, Brad Stevens, poached a member of his staff and lured him up north to Boston.

As first reported by ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Ronald Nored will leave South Alabama to take on a role in “player development” with the Boston Celtics. Nored was with South Alabama for all of about four months.

In this role, Nored will work with the Celtics’ D-League team, according to Goodman.

With practice getting underway in less than two months, look for Graves to fill this assistant coaching position quickly.
