Purdue adds Seattle transfer Sterling Carter

Purdue has added a piece in their back court, as Seattle transfer Sterling Carter announced his decision to play for the Boilermakers next season.

“People kind of know me as a 3-point shooter, but I really think my strength is defense,” Carter told the Indy Star. “I really like coach Painter’s honesty. And I like the returning players. I felt very good about Purdue when I visited in April.”

“I enjoyed getting to know Terone Johnson and Travis Carroll. I hope I can help them maybe win a Big Ten championship in their senior year.”

Carter will be eligible to play immediately, and he could end up having a significant impact for the Boilermakers. As a redshirt freshman, he averaged 13.5 points for the Redhawks, but he saw his production decrease every year. He left the Seattle team 10 games into last season, when he was averaging 7.3 points.

This could cause a problem at Purdue, however.

There’s also a Sterling Carter on the football team.
