New York Supreme Court Justice Cynthia Kern has dismissed a discrimination lawsuit against UConn women’s coach Geno Auriemma, saying that New York courts do not have jurisdiction, as Auriemma is a resident of Connecticut.
The lawsuit, which was filed in June of 2012, stems from an accusation made by an NBA security official based on an incident that occurred during a tournament in Russia in 2009.
The security director, Kelley Hardwick, alleged that Auriemma followed her and forcibly tried to kiss her before she physically pushed Auriemma away. (The full details of the accusation can be found here.) According to Hardwick, this rebuttal resulted in Auriemma getting her pulled off of the US Olympic Team’s security detail in the summer of 2012, a job that she had worked in 2004 and 2008.
