Former Indiana Hoosier Devan Dumes facing gun charge

Former Indiana Hoosiers guard Devan Dumes is facing charges of criminal recklessness and carrying a handgun without a license after allegedly firing shots into an Indianapolis home on Jan. 9.

According to the Indianapolis Star, Dumes and his brother began arguing inside the home about his brother’s refusal to hand over a set of keys. Dumes, carrying a handgun on his hip, was forced to leave by a woman in the residence. Once outside, Dumes fired numerous shots into the home. His 1-year-old nephew was reportedly inside at the time.

Police reportedly found 14 spent .40cal shell casings outside the house.

Dumes began his college career at Eastern Michigan before transferring to Indiana. He played two seasons with the Hoosiers. In 2008-09, he averaged 12.7 points per game. In 2009-10, he saw a significant drop in his minutes and averaged 6.6 points per game.
