At this point, it’s impossible not to feel for Indiana’s Maurice Creek.

After having a freshman season where he was averaging 16.4 points cut short when he ruptured the patella in his right knee, Creek struggled through half of his sophomore season before the same injury in his other knee ended that season. Prior to his junior year, Creek tore his achilles and missed all of the 2011-2012 season.

He was finally healthy entering this season, but through 10 games, Creek was only averaging 3.0 points and 11.3 minutes.

And now?

Creek will be out indefinitely with an injury to his right foot:

“Maurice has been doing so much to improve and help our team,” said IU Coach Tom Crean. “Hopefully this is just a temporary setback.”

Again?

He’s hurt again?

Mo Creek just has the worst luck. There’s not much in sports that is worse than watching a kid with talent lose a chance at a very profitable future because his body continually breaks down. Indiana will be fine this season -- Creek was nothing more than a role player that saw limited minutes -- and Creek will end up leaving Indiana with his degree and a promising future.

But it’s still difficult to see a kid continually get setback like this.
