Wisconsin’s Zach Bohannon takes to twitter to invite Obama to practice

Obama And Romney Square Off In First Presidential Debate In Denver

DENVER, CO - OCTOBER 03: Democratic presidential candidate, U.S. President Barack Obama speaks during the Presidential Debate at the University of Denver on October 3, 2012 in Denver, Colorado. The first of four debates for the 2012 Election, three Presidential and one Vice Presidential, is moderated by PBS’s Jim Lehrer and focuses on domestic issues: the economy, health care, and the role of government. Zach Bohannon is a junior forward at Wisconsin with political aspirations of his own, so it’s no wonder that he came up with a plan for how President Obama could improve his standing in the polls in the swing state: spend an afternoon hooping with the Badgers.

Bohannon has been tweeting at the President’s official account to try and convince him to play pickup with the team after he visits the campus on Thursday. And he’s certainly been persistent:

@barackobama, Sir, want a boost tmw for the swing state of Wisconsin? Stop down two blocks & come get a run in with @badgermbb! #Badgers

Great debate by both sides, but eye is back on the prize for @barackobama to come play w/ the #Badgers tmw! It will only help ur reelection! — Zach Bohannon (@ZBohannon) October 4, 2012

Regardless your views, @barackobamaneeds some stress relief tomorrow. A pick-up game of basketball to get some exercise would be perfect! — Zach Bohannon (@ZBohannon) October 4, 2012

@barackobama, Sir, if u play we will even let you pick teams & I (the big, fat white kid) am okay with being picked last! #Obama #Wisconsin

@barackobama, sir, we will save u the time & money of going to the White House after we win the national title, if u come play w/ us tmw!

@barackobama, Sir, think about the reach on #Twitter u would have if u had all the #Badgers demographics behind you! #PresidentToKohlCenter — Zach Bohannon (@ZBohannon) October 3, 2012

@barackobama, Sir, we also won’t hold against u that u picked against the #Badgers in our 2nd game in the NCAA tourney last year #WeStillWon — Zach Bohannon (@ZBohannon) October 3, 2012

@barackobama Sir, we won’t hold against u that you’ve been 2 open gyms 4 UNC & Oregon St. #Badgers #President #Obama #PresidentToKohlCenter

@michelleobama, Happy Anniversary to you & ur husband @barackobama! Can u tell him to get some exercise tmw & come run w/ the #Badgers?!

— Zach Bohannon (@ZBohannon) October 3, 2012

You have to admire the kid’s effort.

He even reached out to SportsCenter, Andy Katz (a Wisconsin alum), ESPN and Craig Robinson, the Oregon State head coach and Obama’s brother-in-law. Robinson’s response?:

You should have come to OSU.”

Well played, sir. Well played.

And while Bohannon’s efforts could very well land him on the same basketball court as the President of the United States of America, I can’t help but wonder just how many of his followers happen to agree with the college hoops best follow:

Team unfollow @zbohannon
