Baltimore star Aquille Carr will not participate in the upcoming Under Armour Elite 24 event in Venice Beach, Calif., following his weekend arrest on an assault charge, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Carr’s arrest was first reported by NBCSports.com.

The 5-7 Carr took part in last year’s event but, as confirmed to The Sun by ESPN PR spokesperson Gracie Blackburn, Carr will not be taking part in the 2012 festivities.

He was arrested Friday morning around 8 a.m. on a warrant for assault after allegedly throwing the mother of his infant child to the ground and kicking her after a heated argument.

Baltimore police charged Carr with second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to police documents, and he was released Saturday after posting $50,000 bond.

The annual Elite 24 events are set to take place this Friday and Saturday. Events include a dunk contest and the highlight of the weekend, the all-star game. Rosters for the event can be found here.

Carr, perhaps the most prominent name in Baltimore basketball and one of the most highly rated players on the East Coast, is committed to coach Kevin Willard and Seton Hall. He pledged his name to the Pirates in January.

It is still yet to be seen how the arrest will impact his relationship with Seton Hall and if he will maintain a commitment and attend the New Jersey school.
