Ohio St. to induct Bob Knight into its Hall of Fame (Um, OK)

Bob Knight was such a good coach at Indiana, he’s going in the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame.

I’ll explain.

Knight, who won three NCAA tournament titles with the Hoosiers and retired as college basketball’s all-time winningest coach (his protégé, Mike Krzyzewski passed him last season) with a 902-371 record, was a reserve forward for Buckeyes from 1960-‘62. He was there when they won it all in ’60 and for repeat appearances in the title game the next two years on a team that featured John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas.

But he did graduate in ’62 with a degree in history and government, making him an alum. So the Hall of Fame created a “lifetime achievement” category this year, the school announced last week. Knight’ll be the first inducted under that definition.

So just forget about the whole Indiana aspect. The Buckeyes are claiming him as their own.

“Our basketball program is thrilled with this recognition of coach Knight,” Matta told the Columbus Dispatch. “I know being inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame this year is something that will mean a great deal to him.”

Knight is already a member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. So what’s one more?

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for me to be joined by a guest on the podcast and today, it was Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports.

Jeff is a west coast guy, so we spent some time talking about Pac-12 hoops and USC vs. Oregon. We also got into Kansas-West Virginia, Purdue’s win over Michigan State and Denzel Valentine vs. Buddy Hield.

And like me, Jeff is a bit of a beer snob, so we did have a chance to chat about some of our favorites early on. At this point, I should be sponsored by Bell’s.

Anyway, you can listen to the podcast by clicking “play” on the Soundcloud player embedded below. Or you can do so through either iTunes or Stitcher if you so choose. Thanks for listening!

VIDEO: Kentucky’s ‘Dancing Guy’ has scary fall while carrying girl

Kentucky’s ‘Dancing Guy’ has turned into a fan favorite at Rupp Arena.

Every home game, during one of the TV timeouts in the second half, ‘Mony Mony’ will come on, Dancing Guy will hop into the aisle and he’ll break it down like only a middle-aged white guy from Kentucky can.

As you can see, it didn’t quite go all that well for Dancing Guy on Tuesday night, as he tried to do a rail slide while holding a young, female fan and completely ate it.

Here’s another angle of the fall:

It looks much scarier that it actually was, as all reports indicate that everyone made it through the fall healthy.
