Mississippi State transfer Rodney Hood down to Duke and Ohio State?

RodneyHood

With the retirement of Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury, so was spurred the transfer of freshman Rodney Hood who, now, could be the hottest talent on the transfer market.

But, according to a report from Florida State’s Rivals.com site and added to by Bob Baptist of the Columbus Post-Dispatch, Hood is down to two schools: Ohio State and Duke.

Hood averaged 10.3 points and 4.7 rebounds for the Bulldogs last season and, after sitting out one year, would be eligible to play for his new team in 2013-14.

As Bishop details, Hood did not receive a scholarship offer from Duke coming out of high school, but was a fan growing up.

If he were to choose Ohio State, he would be able to play alongside former AAU teammate LaQuinton Ross.

Ohio State has one player signed for the Class of 2012, guard Amadeo Della Valle, having missed out on three top prospects: Tony Parker (UCLA), Amile Jefferson (Duke), and DaJuan Coleman (Syracuse).

Duke, on the other hand, has two players signed in Rasheed Sulaimon and Jefferson.

Hood would bring a scoring ability and length to either frontcourt, having been a Top 30 recruit out of high school. He is originally from Meridian, Miss.
