Temple sophomore guard Aaron Brown reportedly set to transfer

Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting that Temple sophomore guard Aaron Brown has informed coach Fran Dunphy that he will be transferring to another institution.

Brown averaged 6.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in just over 14 minutes per game last season. He had his best game of the year in a win over Central Michigan in early December, when he went for 21 points and five rebounds.

The Owls finished 24-8 on the year, including 13-3 in the Atlantic 10, before losing to South Florida in the Round of 64 of the NCAA tournament.

Seniors Juan Fernandez and Ramone Moore will be graduating this spring, which would have cleared some room for Brown in the rotation. Now the Owls will be without almost 35 points worth of backcourt scoring in 2012-13.

Brown is a 6-5 guard, originally from Hackensack, N.J. He attended the famed St. Benedict’s Prep (N.J.).

The Owls do not have any guards signed from the Class of 2012, but have two swingmen in Bronx native Daniel Dingle and New Jersey native Quenton DeCosey. They will also be adding senior Scootie Randall, who is returning from injury, and former West Virginia Mountaineer Dalton Pepper, who will become eligible after transferring.
