This year, big men ruled college basketball, according to the Associated Press.

The AP All-American list, released Monday, has five players, each of whom is no shorter than 6-7.

Thomas Robinson becomes the first unanimous All-American selection since 2009, when now-Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin was given that distinction.

Along with Robinson, Jared Sullinger of Ohio State, Draymond Green of Michigan State, Doug McDermott of Creighton, and Anthony Davis of Kentucky round out the group.

The announcement means that 60% of the All-American team will be competing in the Final Four in New Orleans, with Sullinger, Robinson, and Davis readying themselves for a push toward the NCAA title.

McDermott was the leading scorer of all the selections, averaging 23 points per game. He led the Jays to the Round of 32, where they lost to North Carolina.

This is Sullinger’s second All-American selection and now becomes the first player since LSU’s Chris Jackson in 1989 and 1990 to be part of the team as both a freshman and sophomore.

Green is the only senior on the list and was the driving force behind Michigan State’s run in the NCAA tournament. He averaged 16.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game and was regarded as one of the most versatile big men in the country.

Davis averaged 14.6 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.6 blocks this season and was perhaps the most dominant defensive player in the country and the biggest reason that Kentucky finds itself in New Orleans.

For Player of the Year, discussions have centered around Robinson and Davis as the two most prominent candidates. If Davis were to win, he would be just the second player in history to win the Naismith Player of the Year award as a freshman. Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is the other.
