Kentucky freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist made waves last month when he told reporters “I’m graduating here. I’m not going nowhere. I’m staying at Kentucky.”

That statement might have to be revised.

A source told Chad Ford of ESPN that Kidd-Gilchrest will declare for the NBA draft when the Wildcats’ season ends.

“He hopes he’ll be able to announce right after they win the NCAA championship,” the source told Ford. “But even if they don’t win it all, he’s coming. He knows he’s going to be a top-5 pick. He can’t pass that up.”

Kidd-Gilchrist later tweeted a response: “I don’t know where this is coming from. This is MY decision. Right now all I’m focused on my Teammates and winning Games. After the season Ill make a decision that’s best for me and my family!”

He could go as high as No. 2 or 3 in the draft.

The 6-7 wing averages 11.8 points and 7.6 rebounds a game and is a dynamic player in the open court, excels on defense and is seen as an ideal teammate.
